About Us

Since 1940, the Ground Hog Club has brought together individuals working in the administration, design and construction of sub-surface work.

The first annual dinner dance celebrating the club's formation was held on Saturday, February 8, 1941, on the roof of the Knickerbocker Hotel. In celebration of the new club, founding members George Salter, Virgil Gunlock, W.J. McGregor, Peter M. Kelliher and Dick VanGorp adapted the official Ground Hog Club logo of a ground hog wearing a hard hat and holding an air spade.

Every year the Club comes together through four events-the Annual Dinner Dance, the Corned Beef and Cabbage Dinner, the Golf Outing, and Octoberfest. We take pride in our club, and look forward to celebrating nearly 70 years of camaraderie with you.
